My formal education is in visual communications, including photography coursework. I picked up my first SLR in 1973 and was immediately hooked on the magic of black and white photography. I was a very artistic kid, and while I was growing up, photography was just another form of art medium for me, albeit a magical one. As an adult my interest grew and for the past 25 years I have incorporated photography into my professional life in event and volunteer management, and marketing communications work.
In the mid ’90s I started creating abstract architecture and nature art images for exhibition. I then began shooting people and discovered I had a knack for it. I realized that I have a gift for photographically capturing a moment of emotion, as well as the unique character of my subject. As an artist, it was a natural evolution to shoot the nude human form and my fine art photography became a passion as I discovered a deep fascination with the play of light and shadow on the human form. I was struck by the power it has to evoke strong feelings in myself and others. I absolutely love freezing a moment in time with an image that expresses something about life, love, passion, adventure, sensuality, and the human spirit. I strive to create images that have a voice and compel one to think and feel something beyond an appreciation for just another pretty picture or portrait.
I have been blessed to win international competitions, exhibit my fine art figurative photography across the United States, and have my photographs included in fine art photography coffee table books. I am thrilled to have a six week installation of my work in the World Erotic Art Museum (WEAM) in Miami, Florida in early 2011.
